Abuja—Supporters of the lawmaker representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Azibapu Fred Obua, have dismissed claims by the Ogbia Political Pathfinders, a group they described as faceless, adding that their press statement is a concocted essay of lies formulated to demarket the lawmaker’s representation.
In a rejoinder by Comr. Felemotiom Egolikuma, Head, Social Media Unit, Team Obua, the Team condemned the “mischievous publication of the faceless group and fake signatories” for attempting to misrepresent the remarks of former First Lady Patience Jonathan during the distribution of empowerment materials to constituents.
It would be recalled that the former First Lady, at the event, advocated for the stoppage of quadrennial change of House of Representatives members in Ogbia.
According to Obua’s supporters, “we have never issued any negative statement(s) on or offline and those crying wolf are only intimidated by the towering political pedigree of Right Honourable Azibapu Fred Obua and his wide acceptance by the Ogbia people and electorates.”
“The Media reports rightly relayed Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan’s informed opinion, which she is entitled to, that change of Members of House of Representatives for Ogbia Federal Constituency every four years is counterproductive and will make the Kingdom not to ever have a ranking Member with the attendant benefits.
“Without Equivocation, the former First Lady stated that Azibapu Fred Obua is performing excellently well and she is pleased with him and that Obua should continue the good works.
“The numerous attendees at the event can attest that Her Excellency Dame Patience Jonathan’s express statements were never misrepresented or skewed to misinform and no disaffection has been caused, as her Excellency’s opinion and statements represent the views of majority of today’s Ogbia people.
“Those stalked in the past should wake up to the realities staring the Ogbia people in the face.
“That the unknown group and non-existent signatories and their paymasters should stop living in the past, as Nigeria’s Former First Lady is fully aware of political happenings in and around Ogbia and feels the pulse of the People and will always speak for the People as she has done.
“The era where it is either him or nobody is over. There is the Constitutional right to freedom of speech and Her Excellency has a right to express herself anywhere and at any time.
“Where were they when in the last House of Representatives Election for Ogbia Federal Constituency candidates from other Constituencies contested with Rt Hon Azibapu Fred Obua and some even unsuccessfully challenged the results of the election in Court.
