Yuletide: Bayelsa lawmaker felicitates with constituents

…reels out achievements, condemns activities of sea pirates

Yenagoa—The lawmaker representing Brass Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Charles, has felicitated with his constituents on the occasion of the Christmas celebration.

In a statement by Munafa Richard Clever, his media aide, the lawmaker thanked his constituents for their support since he was elected into the House of Assembly.

“Right from when I was elected till this moment, I have enjoyed the support and cooperation of chiefs, elders, women and youths of Brass Wards 1, 2 and 6 that make up our beloved constituency.

“I seize this opportunity to appreciate all my constituents for the unflinching support thus far. I implore us to emulate the doctrine of our Lord Jesus Christ as we celebrate His glorious birth this season,” he said.

Hon. Charles who reeled out some of his achievements since assuming office, also condemned the recent surge in the activities of sea pirates on the Nembe/Brass waterways.

He called on those giving out information to criminals to desist from the act.

His words, “we have been able to facilitate the construction of three concrete roads in Brass Ward 1; while two toilet facilities are nearing completion in Ward 6, precisely Liama Ama-Ogbo.

“This is in addition to the palliatives we have been providing to countless households since the pandemic started, including the financial assistance we render to our people almost as a daily routine.

“We have also been purchasing UTME forms for interested candidates and facilitated the registration of more than 50 students for WAEC/NECO exams in the 2019/2020 academic session and over 60 students in the 2020/2021 session.

“Interestingly, we organized the Charles Daniel Unity Games to discover budding talents and knit our people together. The second edition will soon kick off.”

“we are bedevilled by activities of sea pirates and kidnappers, and we are asking for support from our people by not harbouring these criminals because even though you are not a victim, your friends or relatives may become victims of their heinous acts.

“Those giving out information to these criminals in our localities must stop the wicked act because it is not helping us. Let us continue to discourage sea piracy and other forms of criminality.

“Recently, the Prosperity Government led by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, provided some gunboats to escort local boats which we appreciate, but we are still using this opportunity to call on the Federal and State Governments to help improve security in the area,” he said.
