…as former First Lady speaks against change of federal lawmakers in Ogbia
Ogbia—Nigeria’s former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has advocated against the change of House of Representatives members for Ogbia Federal Constituency every four years.
She made this known in Emeyal 2 community in Ogbia Local Government Area on Tuesday as a guest of honor at the distribution of empowerment materials to constituents by the lawmaker representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Fred Obua.
The former First Lady who urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items also charged them not to sell the items.
On his part, Obua reassured his constituents that he will ensure the realization of his legislative interventions on the Oil and Gas Museum, Federal College of Education-Elebele and the Ogu- Anyama-Okodi road.
While thanking constituents for their support, he also pledged to provide more empowerment materials to make them industrious and self-reliant.
The Managing Director of Nigerian Film Corporation, represented by the South-South Zonal Head, Mrs Joy Iyare, commended Obua for attracting empowerment opportunities to his constituents.
He advised beneficiaries not to underutilize the items or take the kind gesture for granted.
Chairperson of the occasion, Mrs Regina Agadaga commended Obua for providing unprecedented effective representation.
The wife of the Chief of Staff, Government House Yenagoa challenged beneficiaries to ensure they make a living out of the items given to them, so they can become employers of labour soon.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Mercy Anthony appreciated the lawmaker for the kind gesture.
She promised that they will make good use of the items.
Dignitaries that attended the event include His Eminence, King Dumaro Charles Owaba, Obanobhan III, clan heads of Anyama, Emeyal, Olei and over 25 traditional rulers.
Others are the National Chairman of Ogbia Brotherhood, Hon Federal Otokito, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Investment and Industry, among others.
Mangrovepen.ng recalls that Obua recently distributed educational materials, motorcycles, refrigerators, power generating sets and computers to thousands of constituents.
