Benin City—Over two hundred Ijaw communities in three Local Government Areas of Edo State have lamented neglect by successive governments of the state.

The Secretary, Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, Omaghomi Olu-Derimon, said this in a statement on Tuesday and reported by Punch newspaper.

Olu-Derimon decried that Ijaw communities in Ikpoba-Okha, Ovia North East and Ovia South-West Local Government Areas of the state have no government presence.

He stressed that the communities have been left to fend for themselves with no basic amenities that would enhance development.

He no noted that despite marginalisation, Ijaw communities had contributed in no small measure to the political and economic development of the state.

He appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to, as a matter of urgency, correct the anomaly to give the people a sense of belonging.
