Power is transient, use it wisely, Okowa’s aide tells Nigerian politicians

Asaba—The special assistant on media to governor Okowa, Ossai Ovie Success has advised people occupying positions of authority to use their positions wisely.

He also asked public office holders to be humble, insisting that power remains transient.

Ovie who stated this on his Facebook page said Dame Patience Jonathan’s case where her birthday on October 25th went unnoticed was a teachable moment for those in power now.

He said people went the extra mile to celebrate the former First Lady every day when she was the wife of the president, now that she is no longer in the corridor of power, the same people do not even remember to celebrate her on her birthday.

According to Ovie, people should not be carried away by the love, praise and huge followership they enjoy when in power because it may not be the case when they leave power.

He described the former First Lady as an amazing woman who meant well for the people of Nigeria.

In his words: “Yesterday was our Former First Lady Patience Jonathan’s Birthday, but no adverts on newspapers, enough posts on Social Media to celebrate our Former First Lady Patience Jonathan on her birthday.

“As a First Lady, she was so famous, helpful and humble. I personally had an encounter with her and I can testify to the fact that she was so good as First Lady.

“Her birthday then was like a carnival and a lot of persons who were benefiting from her and those who want to benefit from her were sponsoring adverts on the pages of newspapers and the social media.

“But today the story is different because she can no longer help some of them. Where are those Governors, Ministers, Senators, Aides, Contractors who paid for adverts to celebrate her then on her birthday?

“Yesterday they were nowhere to be found. Even those who benefited from her then who normally post on social media to celebrate couldn’t post yesterday as I was watching them closely.

“A lot of persons who are clapping for us today won’t be there to clap for us tomorrow when the power is no longer there or when we are no longer helping them.

“USE YOUR POWER, FAME, MONEY WISELY.”
