Yenagoa—Prof. Steve Azaiki, Member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on Thursday, inaugurated the Azaiki Believers Forum at Udeme Hotel in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
The forum whose membership cut across the eight local government areas in the state, during the inauguration ceremony, was charged to be prepared for any leadership position when called upon.
Addressing executive members of the group, Prof. Steve Azaiki, represented by Engr. Utovie Egba, head of the constituency office, charged them to effectively coordinate the activities of the group.
According to him, they should consider it a rare privilege to serve and coordinate youth activities. He enjoined them to work hard to justify the confidence reposed on them.
“It is my singular honour and privilege to appreciate members and leaders of the Azaiki believers forum who willingly accepted to serve in this important and historic assignment.
“It is historic, because it is not every day, that you get to work on a committee that will coordinate the vision and antecedence of one of your own, Prof. Steve Azaiki.
“It is important because our nation and our people are at a turning point and we need to key into the laudable vision of an academic don who has also distinguished himself in the business of lawmaking, to finish the job, that he has started.
“And, it is for that reason that, we have composed the state committee that will be chaired by Apostle. Kokobaiye Abeki.
“Let me appreciate the Azaiki believers forum for always standing by us.
This group is the only platform that is not founded on the front lines of our state and nation.
“There are some other groups, that are founded on ethnic and religious calculations but the Azaiki believers forum is an all-inclusive umbrella body, that has space for all Bayelsans and Nigerians; the so-called majority and the so-called minority,” he stated.
In their remarks, Hon. Weris Tike, Chairman of Bayelsa Waterways Authority and Hon. Teddy Godwin Fefegha, called for unity and commitment amongst members of the group.
Highpoints of the occasion were the commissioning of the Azaiki Believers Forum secretariat and presentation of face caps to stakeholders of the forum, by the SSA of New Media to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Perekebena Okoyen.
