Given its nature, friendship usually forms the core of a student’s academic performance. This is because, if not managed, it can spell doom for the student.

Ideally, having one or two friends is not farfetched. Two friends whom you share common aspirations and dreams with could be beneficial to you. However, like the popular saying goes, “too many cooks spoil the broth.”

Having many friends at school is not actually good for the psychology of any student. This is because the student will find it hard to cope with the myriad of behaviour from such friends.

Thus, having an army of friends is usually a recipe for moral and academic failure.

Below are two cogent reasons why having many friends at school may not be necessary:

ALIEN BEHAVIOR TAKES PROMINENCE

Once a student starts having many friends he or she begins to inculcate alien behavior. A student who ordinarily does not have flair for keeping late nights, may suddenly start coming home late.

Peer pressure from friends could lead a student to engage in fraudulent activities, such as internet fraud, cultism, exam malpractice, and the likes.

These alien behaviours often take prominence in the life of the student, due to learned behavior from his or her multitude of friends.

Thus, as a student, it is imperative to keep your circle small. There is no special award for having the highest number of friends. None at all!

IT IS A RECIPE FOR ABYSMAL ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

The ultimate goal of any student is to perform well academically. Such goal can be shortchanged, when a student no longer studies or attends class.

When a student have many friends, who don’t take their academic pursuit seriously, there is a tendency that his or her academic performance will dwindle.

Once leisure is prioritized more than study time, be rest assured of an abysmal academic performance. And the sad thing is that, it is very rare to find students with many friends who make out time for their studies as much as they should.
