The golden rule of success

Everybody wants to be successful. We all desire to excel and be celebrated in our given professions. But how often do we obey the golden rule of success?

A lawyer aims to be exceptional in her legal profession and become the most sought-after legal practitioner of her time.

Just like a painter yearns to paint the most idyllic painting of all time, to enjoy the benefits of his hard work.

It’s not wrong to have a great hunger for success. After all, the wealth, influence, fame, power, happiness and other benefits that accompany success are just too attractive to live without.

The game of success has one golden rule and only those who obey it end up getting the trophy. Whereas those who refuse to play by this all-important rule tend to fail woefully and beset themselves with regrets.

If you want to be successful, then you must do the one thing that most successful people do: you have to be PERSISTENT while working to reach your goals.

The ocean of life is filled with torrential waves and storms that would discourage you from sailing. However, you will certainly reach the beautiful isle of success if you continue sailing and do not give up.

It is hard to be persistent—there is no doubting this fact—yet passion, focus, commitment and self-discipline will enable you to scale through.

Napoleon Hill in his book, Think And Grow Rich, dedicated an entire chapter to the rule of persistence and averred that “without persistence, you will be defeated even before you start. With persistence, you will win.”

Most people fail because they don’t follow through with their plans. They tend to give up at the slightest challenge.

Successful people don’t give up easily. They keep doing what’s necessary. They keep their head and hands on the goal—even when they don’t feel like it.

Challenges almost always precede success. So you must focus on the goal even when they come, having in mind that they will soon go off if I do not give up.

The bad news is, challenges come to defeat you. But the good news is, persistence is always there to aid you to courageously conquer them.

You will not achieve any remarkable success if you lack the discipline to continually put in the needed effort.

Persistence is what enabled Thomas Edison to create the incandescent light bulb despite the ample setbacks he faced, and Lionel Messi to be a sterling professional footballer.

Persistence tells you to carry on even when you have reached your wit’s end. A persistent man never despairs.

No one becomes successful without putting on the robe of persistence. Persistence propels you to put in the required effort even when it’s not convenient for you.

There are a thousand and one rules of success. But the rule of persistence is at the top. You just can’t succeed without it.
