N’Delta rural women congratulate Usoro Akpabio on SSDC appointment, pledges support


The Niger Delta Rural Women for Sustainable Development has congratulated Usoro Akpabio on her recent appointment as MD/CEO of the South South Development Commission, SSDC.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Akpabio to head the newly established regional agency.

In a statement issued by its Coordinator, Dr. Helen Bob, the group expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for not only assenting to the bill establishing the SSDC but also constituting a management team to oversee its affairs.

The Niger Delta rural women are excited about Akpabio’s appointment, describing it as well-deserved.

“We are thrilled to have an extraordinary young lady to man this new Commission; and we believe she will do well in her duty,” Helen stated.

She equally expressed confidence that Akpabio’s leadership will bring about positive change and development to the South South region.

The group also offered words of advice to Akpabio, while wishing her success in her new role.

“We advise her to prioritize the needs of the South South region, engage with stakeholders, and ensure that the Commission’s programme and projects are tailored to address the unique challenges of the region and her people,” she added.

Helen expressed her group’s readiness to work closely with the new Commission in the interest of women of the region.

Usoro Akpabio, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, is a seasoned professional with a strong background in development and public service.

She holds a degree in Economics and has undergone various training programs in leadership and development.

She has worked in several capacities, including roles in government and civil society organizations, where she demonstrated her expertise and commitment to promoting development in the South South region.
