Wike is friend of Ijaws, Donkemezuo declares, says interest is paramount in politics

Engr. Elvis Donkemezuo, a former President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), has described the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, as the one and only friend of the Ijaw nation.

The former youth leader stated this while giving the welcome address for the New Associates during the mega rally held in support of President Bola Tinubu in Yenagoa on Saturday

He described Wike as a man of impeccable integrity, stating that the former Rivers State Governor is not an enemy, but a friend of the Ijaw people.

Corroborating his point, Donkemezuo hailed the Minister for facilitating Sir Siminalayi Fubara, an Ijaw man, as Governor of Rivers State.

He also said Wike supported Senator Heineken Lokpobiri—also an Ijaw—to become Nigeria’s Oil Minister in the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government.

According to him, Wike also supported two Ijaw sons to become Managing Director and Executive Director for Finance & Administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), respectively.

Speaking further, Donkemezuo hailed the NDDC led by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for its transformative impact in the region particularly the widely-celebrated light-up Niger Delta project.

He argued that NDDC would not have been so impactful if not for Wike’s support for Ogbuku to become its MD.

He therefore declared that Bayelsans and all ljaws love the FCT Minister for his contributions to elevate prominent Ijaw persons in the current federal dispensation.

“We love you. Bayelsa loves you. Ijaw people are not enemies with Ikwerre people. We love them.

“In politics it is interest that comes first. We have decided to let our interest come first,” he said.
