The Bayelsa State chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), the umbrella body for female engineers, is set to inaugurate Engr. (Dr) Amalate Ann Jonathan Obuebite, FNSE, as the 4th state Bayelsa Chairman and Executive Committee member.
Engr. Ann is the wife of the former Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Dr. Jonathan Obuebite who has also headed the Ministry of Education as well as that of Information and Orientation in the oil-rich state.
Mangrovepen.ng gathered that the President of the Association of Women Engineers of Nigeria, Engr. Adebisi Osom, will be the chairman of the occasion.
The inauguration, which is expected to take place in Yenagoa on the 18th of February, 2025, is also to celebrate Nigerian women who are championing the progress of other women in their chosen fields.
The keynote speakers include: a former Executive Vice President (Upstream) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Adokiye Tombomieye, FNSE, and Chairman of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Engr. Valerie Agberagba (FNSE).
Meanwhile the lead paper is to be delivered by a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Among the dignitaries expected at the event include Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, his deputy, Senator Lawrence Erhujiakpor, and federal and state lawmakers.
