The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Community Development, Hon. Belemote Alfred Watson, has said there is no better way to begin the year than by praising God.
This is as the commissioner hosted the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Brass Local Government Area chapter, at his country home in Okpoama on Thursday.
He maintained that it is by God’s grace that we all have witnessed the new year.
Citing some Bible scriptures which admonish Christian not to forsake the gathering of the brethren, Belemote stated it was the right call to celebrate the new year with fellow brethren and believers in faith.
The Commissioner further thanked Governor Douye Diri, his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for the opportunity to serve Bayelsans and Bayelsa State.
He also expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere for his support and wise counsel which he said he has found invaluable in his political journey.
Also speaking, Pastor Femi Adeyemi, Chairman, Okpoama Kingdom Pastors Forum, lauded Belemote for always making out time for the Christian community.
According to the clergyman, the commissioner has always shown concern and love, as well as made out time to celebrate the new year together with the Christian family.
On his part, Apostle Theophilus Opuene, Secretary of the Brass Chapter of CAN, appreciated the Commissioner for what he described as the kind gesture, adding that “it was a nice time spent together in celebrating the new year.”
