The Bayelsa State Ministry of Transportation has announced the relocation of all inter-state travels to the state’s ultra-modern transport terminal at Igbogene in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, effective from Friday 20 December, 2024.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Bayelsa State commisisoner for Transport, Hon. Ayebaekipreye Brodrick on Wednesday.
She said the unanimous decision was reached after extensive stakeholders’ engagement with transport unions, transport companies and transporters operating in the state.
According to her, the move aims to decongest traffic within Yenagoa metropolis and sanitize the transport sector for efficiency.
The commissioner noted that all inter-state passengers departing from Yenagoa to other states will now depart from the ultra-modern Bayelsa State Transport Terminal, Igbogene.
She further added that “All incoming inter-state vehicles shall terminate at the terminal. No transporter or transport company is permitted to load passengers along major roads in Yenagoa or at their company motor parks. Defaulters will be fined.
“Passengers and transporters are by this announcement advised to comply with the new changes.
“Let’s embrace this transformation for progress and a seamless travel experience! Bayelsa State Ministry of Transport appreciates your usual cooperation as we upgrade our transport system for the benefit of all Bayelsa.”
