Bayelsa RDA chairperson commissions 1,000 capacity town hall in Hununu community


Hon. (Mrs) Fine Owei-Williams, Chairperson of the Akassa Rural Development Authority in Bayelsa State, has officially handed over a 1,000-capacity town hall to Hununu Community.

Mangrovepen gathered that the initiative is part of the Senator Douye Diri-led Prosperity Government’s commitment to rapidly develop rural communities across the oil-rich state.

During the commissioning ceremony at Hununu Community, the Executive Chairman of Brass LGA, Hon. Lucky Febo, expressed his appreciation to Hon (Mrs) Owei-Williams “for the diligent execution of this life changing project.”

The council boss pledged to support the community by providing a borehole and a power generating set.


Comr. Loveday Daye, president of the Brass Local Government Federated Youth Council (BALGA-FYC), on behalf of the Hununu Community, thanked the state government for the project.


He also appealed to the Chairman of Brass Local Government Council to provide a generator and borehole water for the facility.

The Akassa RDA Chairperson, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to the Governor Diri, his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of Akassa.

While saying that she will forever cherish the privilege given her, she promised to always prioritize the interest of the masses throughout her stay in office.

Guests at the commissioning ceremony include: Dr. Ebieri Jones, Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment; Hon. Ebere Decent Awolabah, councillor representing Brass Ward 9; and Hon. Jerry Ceaser, Secretary to the Brass Local Government Council.

Comr. Gbalineki Idua, Special Adviser to the Brass Local Government Chairman on political affairs, Mr. Iduate Enoch, members of the Akassa Rural Development Authority, as well as Elders, Women and the Youths of Hununu Community, among others, also attended the memorable event.
