Project Bayelsa is on course under Diri, Cocodia celebrates Supreme Court verdict

Immediate past Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, has described the recent judgement passed by the country’s apex court which affirmed Senator Douye Diri as the duly elected Governor of the state as “upholding the voices and wishes of the people”.

The Supreme court in a judgment on Friday dismissed the appeal brought by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva.

Congratulating Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Cocodia said their victory at the tribunal, appeal, and now the apex court speaks volume of the level of weakness in the case filed by the APC candidate.

In a statement released on Friday, Chief Cocodia described as appalling and unfortunate the “audacity of the opposition party to even take such matters to court, after losing woefully at the polls, following his total rejection by Bayelsans.”

Cocodia, who is the pioneer Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity in Bayelsa, praised the courts for not only dismissing the case, but for also condemning the abuse of court processes by Sylva.

“A man who was abandoned by his party faithfuls and stakeholders ahead of the last governorship election due to his attitude, unpatriotic and unconventional lifestyle, should have been wise enough to congratulate the Governor for his victory at the polls and his successful swearing in, but sadly, for the umpteenth time, expressed his wits of making wrong decisions by approaching the courts,” Cocodia stated.

He thanked Bayelsans for keeping faith with Governor Douye Diri and encouraged them not to lose sleep, declaring that “Project Bayelsa, under the watch of the Governor, is on course.”

Cocodia assured Bayelsans that the remaking part of Diri’s administration will witness massive construction of projects across the state.

He said people of the state will also witness several beneficial educational and vocational policies and programs.
