Integrity group tackles Michael Johnny over accusations against Ogbuku

…urges stakeholders to call him to order

The South-South Integrity Group for Good Governance has described the accusations against the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Michael Johnny, as preposterous.

Johnny, in a letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, had accused Ogbuku of perpetrating contract infractions in the Commission.

However, the Coordinator of the integrity group, Comrade Alex Nathan, noted that the NDDC management under the leadership of Ogbuku has been the best since its establishment.

Nathan in a press statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, affirmed that Ogbuku has been following due process concerning contracts and is also operating an open-door policy in his engagements with stakeholders and communities across the oil-rich region.

His words: “It is preposterous, mischievous, and saddening for Chief Michael Johnny to lay such baseless accusations on Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku.

“It was his impeccable technocratic qualities that made President Bola Tinubu appoint Dr. Ogbuku as MD/CEO of NDDC, and he has so far been living up to expectations.

“From his Operation Light Up Niger Delta initiative to the construction of roads and bridges, and several empowerment programs, he has set the region on the path of transformation and prosperity.

“To the best of our knowledge, NDDC contractors are satisfied with the transparent, fair and credible style of Ogbuku’s leadership and no kickbacks are being demanded from any quarter.”

While alleging Johnny is known for working against innocent Ijaw sons and daughters, Nathan urged the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), and other relevant Niger Delta stakeholders to call him to order.

“This has been his attitude since inception. But he should know that attacking Ogbuku baselessly will not give him any contracts,” Nathan added.
