The House of Representatives Committee on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Implementation of Legislative Agenda organized a national round table discussion on Monday to deliberate on the compelling need for diversification of the Nigerian economy.
The event, chaired by Dr. Patrick Umoh, took place at the President Bola Tinubu Library Auditorium, National Assembly, Abuja, and focused specifically on the green, blue, and digital Economy.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, emphasized the nexus between local content development and economic diversification.
Ogbe, represented by Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, identified the major drivers of economic diversification.
He noted that the board has been defining pathways for diversification by setting measurable targets, building broad-based capacity, and putting in place appropriate governance to oversee the implementation of diversification targets.
He highlighted the board’s continuous efforts toward driving economic growth by promoting manufacturing and skills development.
The NCDMB helmsman further noted that the board has been facilitating sectoral linkages where capacities built for the oil and gas industry are leveraged by other sectors such as maritime (blue economy) and ICT (digital economy).
