Allegation against NNPC top official, Eyesan, on plotting to remove Kyari is senseless, says Ijaw group

The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) has pushed back an alleged attack on the Executive Vice President Upstream of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mrs. Oritsemeyinwa Eyesan in a write-up by a group, Niger Delta Stakeholders Forum.

The Ijaw group described as fake and senseless allegations by the said Niger Delta Stakeholders Forum that Eyesan plotted the removal of her boss, Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group CEO of NNPCL.

According to the group, the write up is a campaign to misinform and incite the presidency as well as the general public against Eyesan to achieve their selfish interest.

This was contained in a statement signed by the coordinator of the IMG, Comr. Joseph Evah.

He said Niger Delta people cannot continue to pull down their own sons and daughters occupying prominent positions in the country.

Evah, a former spokesman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), said the people of the region will resist the plot of evil doers who are sponsoring attacks on highly placed Niger Deltans,

According to him, Niger Deltans will be their brother’s keeper to protect their own.

He said, “The Niger Delta people have learnt their lesson, after the Ogoni crisis that led to the death of Ken Saro-Wiwa and other patriots, the warri crisis, ijaw/ilaje crisis etc.

“We have decided to be our brother’s keeper for the unity and progress of our people.

“Those who are sponsoring our children to pull down their own gifted sons and daughters are making expensive mistakes. We shall resist their evil plot.”

He lauded Eyesan’s achievements and noted that she is one of the best brains to come out of the Niger Delta, describing her as an exceptional professional.

While he further maintained that the IMG will continue to prioritize the unity of the region, he said the plan to create a barrier between Mrs. Eyesan and the President is a failed mission which he said is the aim of the sponsors of the said write-up.

Statement partly reads: “She is an exceptional professional that is moving up the ladder because of hard work and dedication to duties that deserves every patriotic Niger Deltan protection and goodwill.

“Our passion for pursuing a united Niger Deta remains firm because divided we fall and united we stand.

“Again, it is important to remind the sponsors of this evil write-up against our precious daughter that the Niger Delta people are like the Americans and Israelites of today ‘ANY INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL.’

Evah said that if the goal of the write-up is to provoke President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Remi Tinubu, and create a barrier between the first family and Oritsemeyinwa Eyesan, “then it has failed woefully.”

He said “the president and his wife will never succumb to the antics of blackmailers because of their experiences in public life from June 12 struggle days to the period of governance in Lagos State and now President of Nigeria.”
