There’ll be enhanced oil production, conducive environment, Lokpobiri assures ExxonMobiI

…company to make more investments in Nigeria

Nigeria’s Oil Minister, Dr. Heineken Lokpobiri, has restated the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to enhance production and foster a conducive environment for investors in the energy sector.

According to his spokesperson, Nneamaka Okafor, Lokpobiri gave the assurance during a meeting with the CEO of ExxonMobiI, Mr. Shane Harris, and his team in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He reiterated the ministry’s focus on creating robust strategic collaborations and sharing innovative ideas with International Oil Companies in order to strengthen Nigeria’s oil sector.

“We are dedicated to ramping up production,” says Lokpobiri, “and ensuring a supportive environment for all investors by doing everything possible to maintain investor confidence in our country.”

The oil minister also commended ExxonMobiI for its commitment to the sector in the country, especially its planned investments.

He insisted that the company’s investment plans align perfectly with the nation’s objectives.

In Lokpobiri’s words: “ExxonMobiI’s planned investments are commendable and greatly appreciated.

“This renewed relationship is a testament to the mutual goals we share for the future of our energy sector.”

Lokpobiri who hails from the oil-rich Niger Delta region hinted at the petroleum ministry’s support for both international and indigenous oil operators and promised the company’s chief executive of the government’s support.

Lokpobiri, at the meeting, also highlighted the importance of creating a thriving environment for all stakeholders, with the hope that it would result in further growth of hydrocarbons production in Nigeria.

He expressed the government’s support for ExxonMobil and other IOCs, “just as we do with independent operators.”

According to him, “our collaborative efforts are key to the sustainable growth of our energy sector.”

He equally reiterated the importance of continued dialogue and partnership between the government and oil giants to drive innovation and growth in the sector.

While speaking, ExxonMobil CEO, Harris, disclosed some significant new investments his company is injecting into the nation’s energy sector.

Harris also expressed confidence in the renewed relationship between ExxonMobiI and the Nigerian government led by Bola Tinubu.

According to him, ExxonMobiI was not planning to leave Nigeria, hinting that the company was planning further investments in the country.

He said: “Our partnership with the Nigerian government is crucial for sustainable growth, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration as we have no plan to leave.”
