Mr. John Domkpee, the Special Assistant on New Media to the Bayelsa State Governor has thanked Bayelsans for standing by his principal throughout his case at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
This is as the media aide congratulated the Bayelsa helmsman on his recent victory at the court following the tribunal’s dismissal of the petition filed by Chief Timipre Sylva and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking in merit.
In a statement made available to Mangrovepen.ng on Tuesday, Domkpee urged Sylva and the opposition in the state to accept defeat and instead support the governor in building Bayelsa.
According to him, it will be a waste of time and resources to pursue the case further.
His words, “I am also using this medium to advise the opposition, particularly, the former governor and the guber candidate of the APC in the 2023 Bayelsa governorship election, Chief Timipre Sylva not to continue dragging the governor to court because it is a complete waste of resources.
“If Chief Timipre Sylva is actually patriotic, he should cease from continuing this case.
“Suffice it to say that if the ex-minister really wants the best for Bayelsa State and her people then he should be supporting Diri to succeed as governor.”
He praised Diri for staying focused on his mission to transform Bayelsa, despite what he described as distractions from the court cases.
“You can see how far-reaching projects and programmes are being executed in the state despite the plot by the opposition to distract Governor Diri.
“This shows how committed the Governor is to turning the fortunes of the Bayelsa people,” the statement concluded.
