Brass Council boss describes Diri as blessing to Nembe-Brass people

Brass—The Chairman of Brass Local Government Council, Hon. Alabo Hanson Karika has described the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri as a blessing to the people of the state, especially the Nembe-Brass people.

He gave the commendation on Friday while speaking with journalists shortly after visiting the Nembe-Brass road project.

Karika, accompanied by his Nembe Local Government Council counterpart, Hon. Samuel Kalango, said that “it can only take a leader with vision and courage to commence such a huge project that has been abandoned by the federal government for decades.”

According to him, he feels privileged and glad to witness the construction of a road to Brass Island, which is an all-important project that will not only benefit the people of Brass but the entire state and nation.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alfred Obuala quoted him as thanking Diri for demonstrating transformative leadership and all-inclusive governance.

“By intentionally connecting our coastal communities to the rest of the world, the Miracle Governor is indelibly writing his name in the annals of our history.

“I am very pleased with the quality and pace of the work. Out of the 21km, the contractor has sand filled about 11km stretch of the road. So we are hopeful this first phase will be completed on record time,” Karika added.

The council boss also pointed out that the Nembe-Brass road when completed will attract tourists from all over the globe, boost the local economy and provide more means of livelihood to people of the area.

He said, “Again, when this road construction is done, we may no longer travel by boat to get to Yenagoa and other parts of the state.

“This would of course discourage sea piracy and other criminal activities that have been prevalent on our waterways for far too long.”

While admonishing the people of the area to remain united and peaceful, he also urged them to continue supporting the Prosperity Administration, saying “you will enjoy more dividends of democracy in the second term that begins February 14th.”
