Ogbia—Caretaker Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Chief Ibu Williams Mizodome has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on his appointment as head of the Commonwealth Election Observation Mission to Pakistan.
The former President was appointed to lead the Commonwealth Mission to observe Pakistan’s general election slated to be held on February 8, 2024.
Mizodome who stated that Jonathan’s appointment is a testament to his statesmanship, unwavering commitment to democratic principles, and exceptional leadership qualities maintained that Ogbia people are proud of him.
In a statement released on Friday, the council boss equally eulogized Jonathan for his wealth of experience and dedication to promoting transparent and credible electoral processes.
“As you lead a group of multidisciplinary experts from across the Commonwealth, we have full confidence in your ability to offer an independent and comprehensive assessment of the electoral process in Pakistan.
“This appointment not only reflects your accomplishments but also brings honour to our entire community,” he said.
While commending the former President for his dedication to fostering democracy and good governance, the statement also wished him success as he contributes to the “advancement of democratic ideals on the global stage.”
