COSSCCIMA hails Obaseki on reelection as chairman of BRACED commission, seeks partnership, collaboration

Port Harcourt—The Coalition of South-South Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (COSSCCIMA) has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on his emergence as Chairman of the BRACED (Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta) Commission.

Recall that the BRACED Commission was initiated by governors from the South-South region to serve as a brain-box for the collective development of the six states in the zone.

In a congratulatory statement signed by the President of COSSCCIMA, Hon. Indutimi Komonibo, and addressed to Governor Obaseki on Monday, the coalition said the Edo state governor’s re-election as chairman of the regional body was well-deserved.

The group therefore prayed for Obaseki to excel in his new role and take the region to greater heights.

The COSSCCIMA which is the the umbrella body of the organized private sector in the South-South region however said it is “readily available to collaborate with the BRACED Commission to drive local and global strategic economic and commercial cooperation/partnership initiatives to grow the South-South region.”

It further said, “Our organization has a varied membership base that is dispersed throughout the six states of the South-South region and is made up of people and organizations committed to fostering economic growth, reducing poverty, creating jobs, and sustainable development.

“COSSCCIMA is passionate about the economic development and sustainability of the south-south region and thereby ready to partner with the BRACED Commission under your distinguished leadership to collectively address and proffer solutions to the critical/peculiar challenges facing the region and to foster regional economic cooperation and integration within/among the south-south states.”

The organization further assured that it is ready to leverage its network and assets to promote the efforts and goals of the BRACED commission as well as work towards the achievement of their mutual goals.

“We are prepared to use our network and assets to further the goals and efforts of the BRACED Commission as committed by your administration.

“We are available for further discussions. We are excited about the future and look forward to working closely with you to achieve our mutual goals,” the statement further read.

Mangrovepen.ng gathered that the COSSCCIMA is the registered umbrella body for all the City Chambers of Commerce in the Six (6) South-South States of Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Edo, and Rivers.
