Brass—Popular comedian and Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Ebitimi Ogoniba popularly called MC Senibo, has paid the West African Examination Council (WAEC) registration fees for 50 students of Community Secondary School Odioama in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
He has also paid for 17 students who are schooling outside the community making it 67 students in total.
In a chat with a mangrovepen.ng reporter, MC Senibo narrated his struggles to pay fees while in secondary school, hinting that the gesture is because of the harsh economic situation in the country.
According to him, “It was a struggle for me to pay my fees when I was at their level. I know how difficult it is now based on the current economy of the country.”
The entertainer who revealed that he has been receiving calls from students and parents urged those in authority to invest more in education.
“Somebody must motivate the people in higher authority to make education a priority in our communities.
“We have all the resources; we must encourage and educate our people to be part and parcel of our resources,“ he said.
He added that “By The grace of God, 50 students in CSS Odioama and 17 students from other schools have benefited from the scheme.”
The ace comedian told our reporter that he intends to get the number of beneficiaries to 98 before the end of the registration.
It will be recalled that Ogoniba in 2021 paid the National Examination Council (NECO) registration fees for students of CSS Odioama.
He also furnished a library and donated books and other educational materials to the school.
