Honourable Ambassador Douye Asu, artistically known as Trace Ailies, formerly Jeffiraino is currently the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment to the Miracle Governor of Bayelsa state, His Excellency Governor Douye Diri.
Asu is also the Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Entertainers Forum, a group of entertainers, unreserved believers and supporters of the PDP and the Governor Douye Diri-led prosperity government.
Owing to his numerous activities in fostering peace and progress, he was made a United Nations Peace Ambassador in 2023.
He was honored as Bayelsa Youth Leader of The Year (2023) by organizers of the Bayelsa Youths Leadership Award.
He is the Founder of the Douye Foundation, a Non-governmental organization through which he disseminates his philanthropic activities.
As a critical stakeholder of PMAN (Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria), Bayelsa State Chapter, he is instrumental in the revamping of the union after it hibernated due to the mismanagement and unproductive activities by some individuals.
Asu who hails from Aliebiri town in Ekeremor Local Government Area is one person who has been consistent in the Bayelsan entertainment scene.
He has contributed immensely to the industry both with creative content and doggedly advocated for Bayelsa entertainers to be accorded their rights, opportunities and platforms.
His support has led to his fallout with some show promoters & entertainment merchants who have exploited or short-paid creatives in our entertainment clime and others with good intentions have enjoyed his cooperation & support.
Asu who is a die-hard believer of Governor Douye Diri, facilitated the appointment of over 27 and one upgrade of entertainers to become appointees of the government in the capacity of SSA’s, SA’s, members entertainment team and members grassroots mobilization.
An act that has added value and popularity to the prosperity government of Governor Douye Diri and has contributed to the growth of the entertainers as it has aided their crafts and livelihood, leading to the massive mobilization of all entertainers to campaign and vote for the re-election of the Governor in the just concluded gubernatorial elections.
Beneficiaries of his benevolence include, Gboluseri Timipre Samuel also known as Chifftimz, Braokubo Reuben also known as Slimkelz, Tokoni Medlye Felagha and Precious Monday also known as Dmpbeatz.
Others are Elvis Jebba also known as Elvidal, Jonathan Micah also known as Jovin, Wisdom Baralatei also known as Wallzee, Funny Effizzy, and so many more.
Due to his numerous contributions and influence in the entertainment industry and his love for His Excellency, even before the campaigns kick-started for the Diri/Law second term campaigns, he led the PDP Entertainers Forum to embark on a door-to-door campaign using mostly his resources and contributions made by the members of the Forum.
Because of the belief the entertainers have in him, the last gubernatorial campaigns experienced for the first time, a massive turnout of entertainers with over 100 campaign songs in support of the governor with a majority of these projects funded by these struggling artistes who have come to feel the impact and promising future of the prosperity government, defying inducements from other parties.
Asu has contributed directly to the careers of creatives, shared experience, contacts, support, ideas, given platforms, facilitated support, patronage, fought, sacrificed and still sacrificing for entertainers and the entertainment industry.
He is a remarkable, trusted link point between the entertainment industry and government and this he does passionately and relentlessly that is why the entire entertainment community in Bayelsa which is the most influential constituency in any state, country and in the world, recommends that Asu should be considered for Commissioner of Tourism or in the case of where a special ministry is created for entertainment.
He should be appointed to oversee the affairs of any special agency or parastatal so created, because he has proven to have the passion, actively involved experience, and loyalty to serve the government and industry meticulously.
The entertainment industry has too much potential to create jobs, bring to life the boom in tourism, reduce idleness, crime, reduce government’s burden by raking in revenue, and promote the ingenuity and superiority of our society.
The industry has the potential to change and replace certain unpleasant stereotypes.
We suggest that Honourable Ambassador Douye Asu, haven shown proof of his commitment, involvement and knowledge both to the entertainment industry and his long involvement with the government be considered for commissioner.
This is because giving such a sensitive position to someone without the knowledge, involvement and trust of the entertainment community will be a disservice to the great legacy Governor Douye Diri will achieve with entertainment.
Honourable Ambassador Douye Asu is the best thing that has happened in the Bayelsa entertainment industry.
