Turnah set for Thanksgiving following court acquittal, Diri’s victory

Yenagoa—Barr. George Turnah, Executive Assistant on Public Affairs and Social Orientation to the Bayelsa State Governor is inviting wellwishers to a Thanksgiving service following his acquittal after 7 years of prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He said the Thanksgiving service is also to thank God for the successful re-election of Governor Douye Diri.

The event is slated to be held on Sunday, 17 December 2024 at the Dappa Biriye Hall, Onopa Lodge, Creek Haven Resort, Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State by 10:00 am.

Turnah who made this known in a statement sent to managrovepen.ng posited that “my family and I have resolved to give a very big thanks to Jehovah in appreciation of His goodness and loving-kindness toward us.”

“We would, therefore, be extremely grateful to have your esteemed presence as we offer thanks to our God.

“Please, come with every money and/or gift item you would probably have visited me with if I was in prison. Let’s offer them to God in Thanksgiving,” he said.

It was gathered that the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, presided over by Honourable Justice A. T. Mohammed cleared him of all the 23 Count Charges filed against him by the EFCC.

Justice Mohammed discharged and acquitted Turnah of all corruption allegations leveled against him after the EFCC and her counsel failed to prove one out of the 23 Charges.

It will be recalled that the EFCC charged Turnah, his companies and allies with corruption allegations seven years ago.
