Brass—At least one person has been confirmed dead and several others injured in an attack on harmless fishermen in the Atlantic Ocean on Friday.
Mangrovepen.ng gathered that a yet-to-be-ascertained number of fisherfolks were also abducted by the perpetrators at the time of filing this report.
Recall that a similar incident happened earlier last year in which several fisherfolks were killed and their fishing boats set ablaze in the middle of the ocean by similar unidentified gunmen.
Reacting to the development, the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency I in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Dr. Daniel Charles, has strongly condemned the act.
He called on government at all levels as well as all security agencies to intervene in the situation.
The attack on fishermen living in Twon Brass has become a regular occurrence that needs to be stopped urgently, he added.
The lawmaker however sympathized with friends and family of the victims.
