Diri’s aide defects to APC in Brass, says Sylva has industrialization agenda

Brass—Technical Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on Craft and Arts, Hon. Numonyo David, popularly called Authentic, has today defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Numonyo who was welcomed back to the APC by Hon. Robert Desmond—the founder of the New Face of Brass political movement—made his return to the APC in Twon Brass, headquarters of Brass Local Government Area.

He pointed out that the former minister of state for petroleum resources and APC candidate in the forthcoming Bayelsa governorship election, Chief Timipre Sylva loves Twon Brass, stressing that many stakeholders in the community got into the limelight through him (Sylva).

Numonyo who was a councillor representing Brass Ward 1 between 2009-2012 said he would work hand in hand with Hon. Robert Desmond and other ardent APC stakeholders in the community to deliver Sylva on the November 11 election.

He argued that “virtually all the top political leaders in Twon-Brass came to the limelight through Sylva’s benevolence. So whoever is saying that Sylva does not love Twon Brass is lying.”

According to him, Sylva’s agenda of industrialization as part of his manifesto for Bayelsa if elected is one of the reasons for his defection.

He maintained that anyone who wants to govern Bayelsa must prioritize industrialization especially given that the state is predominantly a civil service state.

He said, “Sylva should be our governor, the reason being that he has the ideology of industrialization, as a cardinal feature of development.

“Any governor who wants to embark on developing the state without considering industrialization is not serious.

“In a state like Bayelsa that is solely a civil service state, the introduction of industrialization is needed to spawn development in the State.

“Timipre Sylva is the only Governor that embarked on industrialization in the state and it created a lot of impact, and after he left successive governors have not followed up.

“Sylva was the only Governor that embarked on human capital development, and infrastructural development, initiating tens of internal roads during his time.

“He awarded scholarships to many Bayelsans to study different courses including ICT abroad.

“This and many more he has made his agenda for Bayelsans if elected as governor. So why should I not work for his victory?”
