Yenagoa—Ahead of the November Guber poll, the Special Assistant to Governor Douye Diri on Media, Mr. John Domkpee has boasted that Bayelsa State can only move forward with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the leadership of his principal.
Domkpee stated this on Friday in a statement in Yenagoa following the announcement by the Bayelsa State government to refurbish the Imiringi gas turbine.
The governor’s aide maintained that Diri has brought enduring peace to Bayelsa as well as opened up the state for investment which he said will improve the local economy.
He insisted that Bayelsans can’t afford to go back to the “dark days of bad leadership and violence” by voting the All Progressives Congress (APC) into power in the forthcoming election, noting that the state under Diri’s stewardship is heading in the right direction.
According to him, the APC is only after power for selfish reasons, adding that the party lacks a clear template to improve the lives of the Bayelsa masses.
He said, “As November 11 approaches, Bayelsans need to appreciate the fact that only the PDP has what it takes to take Bayelsa to greater heights.
“The opposition party is only interested in occupying Creek Haven for selfish reasons. They don’t have a desire or clear blueprint to improve the living standard of Bayelsans.
“Bayelsa is PDP and will remain so. The citizens know that APC has nothing good to offer. Knowing how unpopular APC is in the state, the party leaders are just banking on federal might to win.
“What they however fail to realize is that the majority of Bayelsans are apologetic to the PDP. For us, we are banking on the masses.
“True power resides in the people and it is only the Bayelsa voters that will decide who will occupy Creek Haven in the next four years.
“There is no gainsaying that Governor Douye Diri has brought lasting peace to Bayelsa. He is opening up the state for more investments that will improve the local economy.
“Just recently, the state government has started the refurbishment of the Imiringi Gas Turbine Plant to light up the nooks and crannies of the state.
“Bayelsans can’t afford to go back to the dark days of bad leadership, imprudence and violence. The state is moving ahead rapidly and it is only proper to maintain the tempo by reelecting the miracle Governor.”
