Yenagoa—A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State and a member of the Tinubu/Shetima presidential campaign council, Hon. Iyenimi Sling has denied his rumoured defection to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, describing it as untrue and baseless.
Sling, who reacted to the alleged stories of his defection via a statement on Tuesday, described himself as a critical stakeholder in the APC, noting that he neither plans to leave the Party nor wants to join the PDP.
The APC stalwart who further clarified that he is from Peremabiri Ward 8 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state and not Ekowe Ward 7 as the rumours have suggested said he is focused on working for the APC guber candidate’s victory in the forthcoming Bayelsa governorship election and therefore needs no distractions.
He further warned the instigators of the said rumors to desist from the act, adding that “their desire to destabilize and cause a further crack in the APC.
The statement partly read, “It has come to my attention that there is an online report flying around that I have decamped to the PDP at Ekowe. It is not true.
“I’m in APC and neither am I considering joining the PDP. I’m a critical stakeholder in the Bayelsa APC.
“Secondly, I am from Ward 8 PEREMABIRI and not Ward 7 Ekowe, and if I ever consider decamping from my Party, it will be a piece of big news in the Bayelsa political space and beyond.
“So the perpetrators of that act should desist from it forthwith.”
