DBI honoured with Africa Innovative Award in Lagos

Lagos—The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), was Friday honoured with the Africa Innovative Award at the DigiVation Future Summit 2023 held in Lagos.

The DBI which was one of the institutions awarded in the night was honoured by the DigiVation Global Network Summit which is a conference that brings together African thought leaders in academia, technology, media content creators, ICT, MDAs policymakers as well as the political class to discuss how Africa can benefit and engage the unfolding future.

In a statement by DBI’s spokesperson, Akin Ogunlade on Friday, the organizer of the summit and President of the DigiVation Global Network, Dr. Bayero Agabi was quoted as saying the Digital Institute was honoured with the award given its excellence in ICT capacity development in the country.

He said the honour was also in recognition of DBI’s efforts of deepening digital skills and ICT knowledge as a crucial tool for development in the country to position it as one of the leading digital economies in the continent.

“DBI has contributed to the digital ecosystem by sustaining the mission and vision of creating enabling knowledge-driven environment through capacity and skills development to use digital technology to access services, engage with each other to foster partnership, and create economic opportunities through empowerment,” he said.

Meanwhile, the President/CEO of DBI, Prof. Mohammed Ajiya was the executive speaker at the summit themed: Enabling Today’s Enterprise— Building Tomorrow’s Economy.

Ajiya who later received the award on behalf of the DBI said programs and initiatives of the institute are worthy of commendation which have positioned the country to be globally competitive, adding that its initiatives have contributed to the exponential growth and innovation in the technological space and business ecosystem in Nigeria.

Prof. Ajiya was accompanied by the Head, of Lagos Campus Mr. Tsoho Yakawada, and Mr. Isreal Baiye of Corporate Services, IT.
