IYC lauds Buhari over Ndiomu’s reappointment, says PAP boss has done well

Yenagoa—The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s reappointment of Maj.-Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (retd) as the interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

The IYC said the decision to retain Ndiomu is a clear indication of the president’s desire to finish strong and ensure sustained peace in the Niger Delta region.

The Youth body in a statement through its spokesman, Comr. Ebilade Ekerefe on Thursday also said Ndiomu has done very well in his first stint as PAP boss despite the efforts of some elements to frustrate his developmental efforts.

The youths noted that the appointment of Ndiomu will further create cohesion and sustain the sanity and order brought to the programme by the former military general.

Ekerefe in the statement further commended Ndiomu for supporting as many empowerment programmes and ideas brought to him by youths in the region as well as promoting the employment of qualified ex-agitators.

While he urged him to see his reappointment as divine, the IYC spokesman encouraged him to stay focused and implement his “laudable plans” for the youths of the region.

Ekerefe equally assured the PAP boss that the Youth body will continue to partner with him and the PAP to ensure that issues concerning youth unemployment in the region is tackled.

He, however, called on youths of the Niger Delta to ensure that the last few weeks of the present administration are allowed to end on a peaceful note.
