Gunmen abduct Bayelsa NPC federal commissioner, staff, demand ransom

Port Harcourt—The Federal Commissioner representing Bayelsa State at the National Population Commission (NPC), Mrs. Gloria Izonfuo has been abducted.

NaijaLiveTv reports that she was abducted on Sunday evening around Ogbakiri junction along the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State while travelling to Port Harcourt from Bayelsa State.

The kidnappers who abducted her around 6:30 pm also abducted her driver and maid.

According to reports, the kidnappers are reportedly demanding the sum of N500 million ransom for her release and that of her domestic staff.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko has confirmed the incident.

She stated that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the command’s tactical teams to swing into action to rescue them.
