Yenagoa—The Commissioner for Education in Bayelsa State, Dr Gentle E. Emelah has debunked reports that Governor Douye Diri has approved the employment of Teachers in the state.
Emelah who made this known in a statement on Monday revealed that employment of Teachers is yet to commence.
The statement reads in part;
“The attention of the Honourable Commissioner for Education Bayelsa State, Dr Gentle E. Emelah has been drawn to a news making rounds that His Excellency has approved for the employment of Teachers, more worrisome is the said publication signed by the chairman of the Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB) calling for qualified candidates to apply for employment as Teachers.
“It has therefore become pertinent to set the records straight that employment of Teachers is yet to commence as the Ministry of Education is in the process as directed by His Excellency to carry out the necessary assessment to identify critical areas of need before the commencement of employment of Teachers to improve the teaching manpower in the State.”
The Commissioner who averred that there is no formal approval for the employment of teachers advised the public to disregard the said publication and wait for further directives from the Ministry of Education.
