Lyon condoles with victims of Bayelsa boat mishap, prays against recurrence

Yenagoa—Former Bayelsa governor-elect and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief David Lyon has condoled with families of the victims of a recent boat mishap that occurred along the Okoroma axis of the Nembe-Brass waterways in Bayelsa State.

The locally-made wooden boat which was heavily laden with travellers and goods en route to Okpoama from Yenagoa, the state capital on Thursday capsized, resulting in the loss of a still yet-to-be-determined number of lives and goods.

While expressing shock over the unfortunate incident, Lyon extended his condolences to the people of Okpoama Kingdom, Brass Local Government, and Bayelsa state in a statement released to journalists on Saturday.

He however commended all well-meaning individuals and authorities supporting the rescue and recovery efforts since the incident occurred.

Lyon, an aspirant in the forthcoming APC governorship primaries in Bayelsa, further prayed for God’s comfort for citizens of the state in what he described as a “trying moment of our existence and to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.”
