Yenagoa—The Save Obogoro Community from Erosion Group has tendered an apology to the Bayelsa State Government over statements it made concerning the erosion disaster plaguing Obogoro community in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
The group averred that it was not formed as a tool to fan embers of discord against the state government but to draw the attention of government at all levels to the plight of residents of the community.
A statement by its Coordinator, Comrade Mick Maclean and Comrade Izibegilem Igodo, Public Relations Officer states that “at no time has the group insulted the State Government and has no such intention, but will however, continue to appeal to the Bayelsa State government to do the needful.”
The statement added that the group will continue the campaign to save the community and will only resort to a peaceful protest as their last option.
“The Save Obogoro Community From Erosion Group is expecting the State government to mobilize contractors back to site as promised, in a bid to attract a glimpse of hope, and also, wipe out the fears and tears on the faces of the community dwellers,”the group said.
