Yenagoa—Two candidates of the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have secured their seats in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly following the conduct of the House of Assembly election in the state.
Mangrovepen.ng gathered that Waikumo Amakoro who had 4971 votes defeated his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Ebiuwou Koku Obiyai, who is also the Chief Whip of the state Assembly, who had 4593 votes to emerge winner as declared by returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Prof Joy Ekeke, for the Yenagoa Constituency 2 seat.
Meanwhile, in Nembe Constituency 1, the INEC returning officer, Okechukwu Okeke, declared Oteigbanyo George Braah the winner of the election. He scored 2,928 to defeat his closest rival, Ebi Ben Ololo of the PDP who had 2,356.
Reports gathered by our reporter indicate that the state Assembly election was characterized by several electoral malpractices such as vote buying, ballot box snatching, violence, intimidation of electoral officers, among others.
