Yenagoa—A man identified as Alexander Diri has been allegedly attacked and killed by suspected herdsmen in Bayelsa State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Monday around the Zarama-Yambiri community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.
The lifeless body of the deceased, who was said to be 49 years old, was discovered on Tuesday near the Zarama Market junction on the East-West Road.
What led to the murder of the victim, who was said to be an indigene of the area, could not be ascertained.
But according to the Punch, his assailants stabbed him multiple times and beheaded him.
“They cut off his head and stabbed him anyhow,” a source in the area said.
The incident, however, sparked protest as some angry youths from the area mobilised to the scene and blocked the Zarama-Mbiama section of the East-West Road for several hours.
The protest resulted in gridlock and disrupted vehicular movement, leaving many travellers stranded.
