Port Harcourt—The governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the forthcoming Rivers State gubernatorial election, Dr. Leesi Gabriel Gborogbosi has promised to build a better Rivers state if done the “favour” of being elected as governor of the state.
Gborogbosi made the promise in a statement issued on Saturday while seeking support from the people of Rivers state in his quest to become the state’s helmsman.
He said he intends to develop Rivers state and create happiness for its people.
Gborogbosi who is a Shell retiree and a technocrat boasted of his financial transparency and accountability throughout his career and expressed his commitment to maintaining this quality when elected as governor.
While stating that he believes in a new Nigeria and a better Rivers State, the guber aspirant added that only proven people with a track record of integrity should be given the chance to govern Rivers state and Nigeria.
In his words: “My intent before God Almighty is to develop Rivers State and to create happiness for the people.
“I will keep my promises, more so I have a family name to protect.
“Throughout my life, I have had the grace of having a clean hand, especially keeping my fingers off other people’s money. I intend to keep it that way.
“This favour of becoming Governor of Rivers State, which I seek from God Almighty and the people of Rivers State, I seek by faith and with humility.
“Please stand with me by faith if you can because our faith in God Almighty is sufficient.
“Today, let’s decide to build a better Rivers State where there will be development everywhere.
“Let every man/woman take up the opportunity to work diligently to achieve his/her dream and to take care of his/her family. Our collective government will inspire and motivate in this regard.
“I believe we can and will achieve a better Rivers State as we put the people’s interest above our interest.”
Dr. Leesi Gabriel Gborogbosi who is from the Ogoni extraction of Rivers State has many years of experience in the private and public sectors and holds a B.Sc in accountancy and Ph.D. in Business studies.
He premised his developmental blueprint of Rivers state on nine focal areas which are; Job creation, Secured Society, Solid Education, Strong economy, Building of 3 New Cities, Accessible Health Services, Human Capacity Development, Good & Integrated Governance and Pension Transformation, and Regular Payments.
