Brass-Nembe House of Reps candidate, Ebikake visits Akassa, promises effective representation

…as Akassa APC chieftain, others throw weight behind her candidacy

Brass—The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general election, Hon. Marie Ebikake has promised to offer good representation and attract capital projects to Akassa Clan in the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa state if elected into office.

Mangrovepen.ng gathered that Ebikake, who was hosted by the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Brass Constituency III, His Highness Reginald Dede made the promise during a visit on Saturday, December 31st, 2022 to Bou-Ama Community in Akassa.

Speaking during the meeting said to be attended by the CDC, women leaders, and youth presidents of the 19 autonomous communities in Akassa Clan, Dede vowed to throw his weight behind the PDP candidate in the forthcoming election.

According to him, this is because his people have been neglected at the federal level despite his contributions as a founding member of the APC in the state.

On her part, Mrs. Waripamo Waribo, who spoke on behalf of women leaders in Akassa, said Ebikake was not a stranger as she pointed out several women who were beneficiaries of the PDP candidate’s empowerment scheme when she was chairperson of Brass Local Government Council.

Waribo said Ebikake’s exemplary leadership, especially during her time as Brass Local Government helmswoman informed their decision to support her aspiration to the House of Representatives.

Ayah Ambrose, President of Sangana Community, who equally spoke for the various youth presidents in the clan, lamented that he has not seen any federal project in his community for more than a decade.

He, however, urged Ebikake to remember the people of Akassa when she eventually wins and assumes office as a lawmaker.

In her response, Ebikake stated that despite her grief over the demise of her brother and friend, Senator Inatimi Rufus-Spiff, she has endeavoured to visit the clan because of their importance and the special place they occupy in her heart.

Hon. Marie Ebikake speaking during the visit

“When I ran for the chairmanship of Brass LGA, I picked my running mate from Akassa because of my sincere love for the people of this clan,” she disclosed.

The PDP candidate further assured the Akassa people that as a humane and transparent person, she will not take their support for granted, if elected.

She promised to “attract capital projects to the clan and also recommend deserving sons and daughters of the Akassa clan for gainful employment both at the state and federal levels.”
