2023: Tinubu-Shettima ticket seeks to improve Nigerians, says ICC Bayelsa, calls for more support

Yenagoa—Executives of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council (ICC), Bayelsa state have called on Nigerians to elect the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima whose bid they described as a national ticket, in the 2023 presidential elections.

The duo of Pastor Joseph Fafi, Director, Finance and Administration and Hon. Eddie Julius, the Secretary of ICC, Bayelsa state, made this declaration during an
interview with a radio station based in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital on Tuesday.

While responding to questions by the host on why the ICC chose Tinubu, Julius said the former Lagos State Governor is a national candidate with a national ticket.

In his words “we are calling on everyone to see the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as a Nigerian ticket. It is a ticket that is aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

“That is why we at the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroot Independent Campaign Council (ICC) Bayelsa have decided to work assiduously to ensure the election of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidency come 2023.”

On his part, Fafi noted that Tinubu is the best candidate for the job because he is passionate about the development of Nigeria and is running to make a name for himself.

As he puts it: “We are doing this with a passion. We decided to work for the election of the Tinubu/Shettima Ticket because we want someone with experience who is running for the office of President to make a name for himself.

“We want a President that is decisive in decision-making. Tinubu has a track record in making tough decisions as he showed in Lagos State when he created new Local Government Development Authorities against the wishes of the sitting President and defended them to the end.”

Responding to the question of the APC scorecard for its eight-year tenure, Fafi, a former APC Chairman in Bayelsa state said the APC has not fared badly in governance.

“The security challenges and the economic downturn is a reflection of global recession and not peculiar to Nigeria.

“Some developed countries around the world have fallen into recession but through the administrative acumen of President Buhari and his economic team, Nigeria has been able to hold on and is moving forward,” he said.

According to Fafi, the core mandate of the ICC, is the sensitization and mobilization of the grassroots, towards a Tinubu/Shettima victory in the February 2023 presidential polls.

“The membership of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroot Campaign Council is far-ranging, cutting across Nigerians from all walks of life, including non-partisan folks who share similar beliefs for the success and growth of the country.

“The inauguration of LGA and Ward executives has already been done. Moving forward, amidst the door-to-door campaign in the wards and units, an Election Management Committee will be set up, to effectively manage the activities in different wards and polling units across every LGA in the state in the build-up to the presidential elections.”

Fafi urged more support groups in Bayelsa state, who share a similar ideology and are desirous of the total victory of a Tinubu/Shettima ticket, not to hesitate to come forward to register with the ICC.

The ICC is a brainchild of the APC Presidential Candidate, established to complement the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), in the build-up to the 2023 presidential elections.
