Lagos—President of Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Prof Mohammed Ajiya has again highlighted new technologies and their importance in a digital world at DigiNxt 2022 Forum held in Lagos on Friday, 21st October 2022.
He stated this as one of the speakers at the event tagged “Digital Economy: The New Wealth.”
Anita noted that the forum provided an important platform to discuss the impact, gains and opportunities driven by the policies that have been put in place by the Federal Government to create an enabling environment for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain for national development.

Head of Public Affairs Unit, the DBI Boss commended the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami for developing over 17 policy instruments which are vigorously implemented to support the growth of the Digital Economy ecosystem in Nigeria.
Ajiya noted that one of the drivers of these policy instruments, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is equally under a dynamic leader, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta partners with DigiVation Network to set the standard in putting together the forum.

He commended them for their vision, innovation and commitment to the growth of the digital economy project.
Ajiya informed of NCC’s intervention in the empowerment of Nigerians on digital literacy through the Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary institutions in Nigeria (ADAPTI) which has led to the empowerment of over 100,000 participants from tertiary institutions in the country.
“It is a very exciting time for the digital economy, both locally and globally. Innovation is rife, and we are in the midst of rapid and extensive technological evolution. Phenomena previously only seen in science fiction are rapidly becoming reality.
“So-called ’emerging technologies’ have begun to cross over from the realm of emerging to being prevalent in everyday life and offering effective solutions to everyday problems,” he said.
He thanked organisers of the programme for their insights and inspiration.
Other invited Speakers at the event included the DG, NITDA Mr. Kasifu Inuwa, DG NIMC Engr. Aliyu Aziz, CEO/MD of Galaxy Backbone Prof. Muhammed Abubakar, and DG NOTAP Dr. Dan Azunmi amongst others.
The DBI President was accompanied by the Head of the Lagos Campus Mr. Sani Tsoho Yakawada, and Mr. Akin Ogunlade Head, Public Affairs Unit.
