Yenagoa—The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and leader of the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva has declared a complete takeover in Bayelsa state.
According to a statement by Sylva’s Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Julius Bokoru, the minister made the declaration when the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the APC, Chief Victor Giadom and other top national executives met with the leadership and stakeholders of the Bayelsa APC in Yenagoa on Saturday.
Sylva noted that the APC is a large family that has what it takes to deliver in the forthcoming elections, particularly in the state.
He stressed that APC must be united going into the election, adding that the party is dominant in Bayelsa.
“We must be a united family to go into this election and that is why the party chairman was very gracious in inviting everybody.
“APC is a large family and it is our ability to accommodate all the shades and tendencies that will determine how far we can go.
“We have the muscle and capacity to deliver, that is why I term this campaign operation takeover.
“APC is the dominant party in the state and from the horizon we can see a new day.”
Sylva, who is also a former Bayelsa state governor, further declared his support for the APC candidate for the 2023 Presidential election, Bola Tinubu, opining that his excellent track record as governor of Lagos state would make him win.
According to Sylva, “He (Tinubu) became Governor of Lagos with an IGR of less than a billion naira and jacked it up to 51 billion by the end of his very successful administration.
“He opened doors of opportunities, built a firm economy, solid infrastructure, and created multiple platforms for human capacity building.”
The Minister slammed Peter Obi for what he described as his watery rhetoric and stressed that the Labour Party presidential standard bearer was a complete failure as Governor of Anambra state.
He also took a swipe at Atiku Abubakar, alleging that the PDP presidential candidate has an “uncanny appetite for selling critical national assets and random acts of financial insincerity.”
Chief Victor Giadom, speaking during the meeting, commended Sylva and acknowledged his contributions toward the success of the party.
He said, “We are here to listen to you, the stakeholders of the party, and to analyze the health of the party. I thank you all for coming and I thank Bayelsans for always supporting us.'”
Also in attendance during the meeting were past and serving members of the national assembly, past and serving members of the state assembly, former chairmen, elders caucus, principal appointees of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, former deputy spokesperson of the APC, and ranking members of the party, amongst others.
