Fani-Kayode lauds Jonathan following meeting with Tinubu

Abuja—A chieftain of the All progressives Congress (APC), Femi Fani-Kayode has described former President Goodluck Jonathan as one of the most civilised, compassionate, capable, and humane leaders that Nigeria has ever produced.

Fani-Kayode stated this on his official Facebook page on Tuesday while writing about Tuesday’s visit by the APC presidential flag bearer, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima to Jonathan at his Abuja residence.

While he said it was out of humility, decency and maturity that prompted the APC presidential candidates to embark on the visit, Fani-Kayode alluded that the visit was to brief Jonathan on their efforts to better the lot of the country.

“I have always known and believed that President Goodluck Jonathan is one of the most civilised, compassionate, capable, and humane leaders that this country has ever known. I believed it in 2015 and I still believe it today.

“I am delighted that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima, the flagbearers of our great party the APC for next year’s presidential election and our incoming President and Vice President respectively, had the presence of mind, maturity, decency, and humility to honor him with a visit yesterday in order to brief him about their efforts and plans for our collective future as a nation and to pay their respects.”

The former aviation minister added that he was moved by the manner in which Jonathan received Tinubu and Shettima “despite all the differences and challenges of the past.”

He stressed that the gesture is a good form of politics and augurs well for Nigeria.

He further said the meeting between the two political leaders is a clear indication of their class and a true show of leadership.

“What BAT and GEJ did yesterday was to prove to the world that they both have class and show what true leadership is all about.

“I thank God for their exemplary behaviour, inspiring leadership, and respective lives,” he stated.
