Yenagoa—The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated the outgoing Chairmen of the 8 Local Government Councils and Councillors in the state for completing their tenure in office.
The party which described them as worthy ambassadors of the prosperity administration in the state noted that they have performed extremely well as stewards in their various Councils.
In a statement signed by the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Solomon Agwana, the party averred that they have produced good results despite the poor socio-economic environment under which they operated.
The statement recalls that on assumption of office in 2019, the outgoing chairmen and councillors faced issues such as the inability to pay workers’ salaries and entitlements due to heavy indebtedness.

Despite the impediments, according to the statement, “they were able to carry out people-oriented projects in all the 105 wards across the state which were personally commissioned by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State.”
“The party is truly delighted by these turn of events and pray that this trend would not only be sustained but efforts are also intensified to step up the revenue base of Councils towards assisting them to discharge their statutory responsibilities in the grassroots with much ease.
“In this direction, we do particularly express profound appreciation to Governor Diri and his workaholic Deputy Governor for the financial lifeline and administrative support given to the Councils which has produced the beautiful transformation we have in the state.”
The statement also charged the outgoing Chairmen and Councillors to remain resolute in propagating the ideals and vision of the PDP and the prosperity administration in the state at all times.
