Catholic Bishop rejects Gov. Ayade’s N25million donation to church

Calabar—A Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, John Ebebe Ayah recently turned down a donation from the Cross Rivers State Governor, Ben Ayade to his church.

According to Naija News, Ayade who was a special guest of honour in the church service in Calabar donated N25 million on behalf of the state government, his family, and the judiciary.

Responding, the Bishop requested to express himself stating that Ayade was his brother from Northern Cross River.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for the donation but rather urged the governor to “use the money to pay workers salaries” much to the surprise of the congregation.

He said: “I want to talk. The governor is my brother, we are both from Cross River North. I want to appreciate the governor and tell him to package whatever he has for me, add to it, and use it to pay the salaries of the workers.”
