Osun guber poll: Bayelsa PDP congratulates Adeleke, commends Diri

Yenagoa—The Bayelsa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke for his emergence as winner of the just concluded governorship election conducted on Saturday in Osun State.

Adeleke polled a total of 403,371 to defeat his closest rival and incumbent Governor of the State, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.

In a statement by Mr. Ebiye Ogoli, Bayelsa State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, on Sunday, the party congratulated the PDP family and the good people of Osun State over the favourable outcome of the election.

The party appreciated them for reposing confidence in Adeleke through their votes.

The statement reads in part:

“We also commend them for standing strong; we hail their dogged determination, courage, and perseverance to rid the state of bad governance. We note with pride, their resilience and patience, to stay put to get to the finish line. These no doubt, are noble virtues worthy of emulation by the followers of our great party.

“We also salute their surplus courage and boldness to resist all forms of blackmail, intimidation and violence unleashed on them by hired APC thugs.

“We wish to reassure all Nigerians and Bayelsans in particular that the PDP is on a rescue mission to salvage Nigeria from all the evils of APC’s eight-year misrule and we reiterate our appeal to them to reject the APC at the polls whenever the occasion presents itself.”

The PDP called on Nigerians to rally round the party to enthrone a new country guided by the vision of her founding fathers.

The statement also appreciated Governor Douye Diri for accepting to serve as Chairman of Osun State PDP Campaign Council, under whose watch the party emerged victorious.

According to Ogoli, the victory has set the stage for a glorious outing for the party in next year’s presidential elections.

“We take cognisance of His Excellency’s special skills in managing human and material resources, a man of wisdom and grace-the Midas touch he possesses which translates to gold at every task handed to him.

“We do not sing his praises but we ascribe all the glory to God. However, we wish to say Nuah! Aluah!! Adoo!!! Your Excellency for a glorious outing and a job well done,” the statement noted.

The party also called on all its members to close ranks and accept to be part of the ongoing reconciliatory efforts.
