Police raid suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Bayelsa, recover firearms, cash, others

Yenagoa—Personnel of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command has burst a gun-running gang at a brothel at Ayama, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Thursday.

The Police in a press statement signed by its spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat on Friday revealed that during the raid at about 5:50 pm on Thursday, two suspects were apprehended while in the process to procure an AK-47 rifle for an alleged kidnapping purpose.

The police said one Brownie Pistol loaded with 8.9mm ammunition, three 12.7mm expended ammunition, the sum of two million naira cash, and a suspected stolen Toyota Hilux 2021 model without a registration number, were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects, one Seibo Dokubo, a 32-year-old male and native of Degema, Rivers State, and Boma Daniel, a 45-year-old and native of Patani, Delta State are cooperating with the Police in its investigation and will be charged to court after the investigation.
