2023: Group calls on Amaechi to contest as Nigerian President

Abuja—A socio-political group, Progressive Volunteers Group (PVG) has called on the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to run for the office of President in the 2023 general election.

According to the group, Amaechi’s antecedents in public service and his outstanding performance as Governor of Rivers State place him miles ahead of other aspirants jostling to secure the Presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by its convener, Dame Ibifuro Thompson Tatua, and Director General, Mr. Living Olavokere Jamala on Saturday, the group averred that it will be a great disservice to the country and his admirers all over the world for Amaechi not to step forward and declare an interest to contest for the presidency in 2023.

“We the Progressive Volunteers Group appeal to the Honourable Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to without delay answer the loud clarion call from Nigerians of all walks of life across the breadth and length of the country, urging him to make himself available to vie for the APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 General Election,” the statement partly reads.
