Youth leader condemns attack on Rivers community that left 3 persons dead

Ahoada—Unknown gunmen have attacked some youths in Oshie Engenni community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of  Rivers State, leaving three dead and several others injured, Mangrovepen.ng has gathered.

A Niger Delta youth leader, who also hails from the community, Comr. Sokari Goodboy Sokari has condemned the act which happened on Tuesday night, describing it as barbaric and uncalled for.

In a chat with our reporter, Sokari alleged that the attackers are youths from neighboring Ekpeye communities.

He declared that “from now on, Engenni Kingdom will defend herself from further aggression. It’s one attack too many and we will resist it moving forward.

“Last year a paramount ruler in Isua community in Joinkarama 2 was kidnapped. In the Ediro clan axis, it’s the same aggressive attacks from some Ekpeye youths.

“They also kidnapped the former youth president, Solomon Howells, but we were able to release him without paying any ransom.”

However, he advised youths in the area not to resort to violence and other illegal activities, opining that peace remains the only panacea to development.

Sokari who is the pioneer Chairman of Abua-Odual/Engenni-Ogbogoro Special Chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), charged “relevant security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.”
